Conferment of the MTTC Award
The 10th International Medical Education Workshop on Molecular Targeted Therapy of Cancer (MTTC), organized in partnership with the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), the Central European Cooperative Oncology Group (CECOG) and the Biotherapy Development Association (BDA), was held June 12 - 13 in Prague. The workshop was chaired by Dr. Heinz Zwierzina from the Innsbruck Universitätsklinik in Austria and Dr. Yosef Yarden from the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel.
On the occasion of the 10th International Medical Education Workshop on MTTC in Prague, the International Education Council on MTTC launched the Lifetime Achievement Award which honors recognized scientists, who have significantly contributed to the research and development of molecular targeted therapies of cancer. The renowned Dr. John Mendelsohn of MD Anderson Cancer Center, Texas, USA was elected as the first awardee. Dr. John Mendelsohn is currently the president of the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Austin, USA. He also is Professor of Cancer Medicine and a faculty member at the University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.
The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Dr. John Mendelsohn "in recognition of his landmark contributions to the development and understanding of molecular targeted therapies of cancer, his significant input to translational research, and his continuous dedication to patient care, research, education and cancer prevention."
